Hockey jersey porn: Watch Chicago Wolves’ Military Appreciation sweaters created from concept to finish (VIDEO)

We’ve featured hundreds of minor league hockey specialty jerseys over the years, but we’ve never had the curtain pulled back on how these really cool (or spectacularly fugly) sweaters are conceptualized and created -- until now.

The AHL Chicago Wolves, the Vancouver Canucks’ affiliate, sent over this video that reveals that process. If you’re a design nerd or a hockey jersey porn aficionado … Merry Christmas:

From Lindsey Willhite of the Wolves:

The Wolves are hosting Military Appreciation games on Jan. 16, 18, 19 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont. As part of the deal, all veterans and active-duty military personnel can get in free just by showing ID at the box office. The players wear commemorative jerseys designed by Christina Moritz, the team's then-creative design director. To make the jerseys look as realistic as possible, she borrowed the ACU (Army Combat Uniform) worn by Captain Brian Harris while serving with the 1st Cavalry Division in Afghanistan.

The video captures Moritz' hours-long creative process as she took continual screen captures of her program.

The Wolves will auction and raffle off the jerseys, with all the proceeds going to military related charities and the Chicago Wolves Charities. They’re also maximizing the charitable potential – goalie Eddie Lack will wear a different jersey for each game, for example.

So there you go: The meticulous, painstaking process in designing a minor league jersey. Now, don’t you feel terrible for pissing all over someone’s creative genius when you mocked the IceHogs’ Mexican Fiesta jerseys?
