Friday night's meeting between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins and Norfolk Admirals was going along fine until emotions boiled over in the second period. With the Admirals holding a 2-0 lead, a scrum in one crease ended up both goalies going at it at center ice.

It all began when Wilkes-Barre goaltender Jeff Deslauriers took exception to an extra poke by Norfolk's Zach Stortini. Deslauriers came up punching and a scrum developed. Things looked like they had calmed down until both goalies bumped into one another while Gibson was heading back to his crease and then the glove were dropped:

For their troubles, Deslauriers was given a double minor for roughing, five for fighting and a game misconduct. Gibson only received a double minor for roughing and remained in the game, unlike Deslauriers.

Goalies don't happen too often, so it's sad to see this one end so prematurely. Deslauriers was certainly fired up from his earlier altercation with Stortini.

In the end, Norfolk would grab the two points with a 4-1 win. The two teams face-off again Saturday night. Maybe we can get Round 2?
