Florida Panthers now selling 'Spacey in Space' shirts for charity

The Florida Panthers are giving you the chance to be the real MVP after they began selling those wacky “Spacey in Space” sweatshirts before Tuesday night’s game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Please recall that after a win in late December, Aleksander Barkov was named the game’s MVP and given a blue sweatshirt with actor Kevin Spacey’s head floating through space on it. George Richards of the Miami Herald captured the image and the legend was born. (Rumor has it Shawn Thornton was the one who found it.)

Panthers players have been quiet about its meaning, but even Spacey was on board:

Barkov and Spacey have developed a sort of cosmic relationship as the young Panthers star thanked the man who played Keyser Soze in a Tweet after signing his six-year extension earlier this week.

The sweatshirt can be yours for $40 with proceeds benefiting the Florida Panthers Foundation and the Kevin Spacey Foundation, which “aims to train, support and mentor emerging artists in the performing arts and film.”

We're looking forward to the NHL team that uses a Frank "The Tank" Top as their postgame award, in honor of the "Old School" star.
