Everyone thinks Don Cherry dropped an F-bomb during Game 2

During Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final, the venerable Don Cherry was ranting about Thomas Vanek on Hockey Night In Canada’s “Coach’s Corner” when a very healthy portion of the viewing public thought they heard Grapes drop an F-bomb.

The exchange …

Ron MacLean: “Do you cut him any slack?”

Don Cherry: “NONE, NONE. WHAT’S HE MAD AT HIM FOR? [Expletive, maybe] 200 feet away …”

CBC viewers took to Twitter by the thousands to proclaim they heard an F-bomb.

C’mon, people. First off, it sounds like “vodka” at best, and since this was a rare moment where Cherry wasn’t blaming a Russian for something, we doubt it. (Although he did find time to blame Andrei Markov for Milan Lucic threatening to kill everyone on the Montreal Canadiens.)

But more to the point: This was Don Cherry trying to cram “the puck is” into about a millisecond, and it ended up sounding like an F-bomb that he didn’t drop.

So keep up the good work, Grapes – now five years without dropping on F-bomb on national television!
