Dustin Tokarski makes ridiculous stick save, robs Carl Hagelin in Game 5

New York Rangers winger Carl Hagelin was about to celebrate a goal in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final on Tuesday night, and rightfully so: Marty St. Louis hit him with a perfect cross-ice pass on a 2-on-1 against the Montreal Canadiens, and he had the majority of the net open in which to fire the puck.

Then goalie Dustin Tokarski slid over and the puck deflected off his stick and out of play.

That was incredible. If Dustin Tokarski had his own walk up music, it’d be the “Theme From ‘Shaft.’”

This is, of course, a nice bit of turnabout for the Canadiens, who watched Alex Galchenyuk’s shot with less than three minutes remaining in Game 4 hit the stick of Henrik Lundqvist, then bounce off the goal line and then out of harm’s way.

Alas, Tokarski would give up a soft goal to Derek Stepan later in the period, as the Canadiens battled for their playoff life.
