It was a frustrating return to Boston for Tim Thomas on Tuesday night, as the Florida Panthers goalie yielded six goals on 41 shots in their 6-2 loss to the Bruins.
Life tip: If Tim Thomas is frustrated, best not to crash his crease. It gets to be a sticky situation, as Carl Soderberg discovered:
Thomas was given a high-sticking minor at 19:56 of the third.
“No one was really running into me until the end there,” said Thomas after the game. “Soderberg, the play before, [gave me] a pretty hard jab. It’s 6-2, so I took a little exception to that.”
Will the NHL take exception to the exception? The Sun Sentinel believes Thomas could be suspended for the high stick.
The NHL tends to give goalies a lot of leeway on players that crash their crease. We suspect Thomas gets nothing, but what say you?
