Chicago Blackhawks selling Stanley Cup season melted ice a.k.a. water
Could you imagine, as a Chicago Blackhawks fan, owning a piece of the ice on which your favorite team skated the Stanley Cup in June? Unfortunately, they won the Cup in Boston, and the Bruins melted that stuff faster than a Popsicle on the surface of Mercury after losing Game 6.
Fret not, Blackhawks fans who covet test tubes of the dirty melted ice (a.k.a. “water”) from a championship season:
The team has collected the last sheet of ice at United Center and is selling commemorative vials – for charity.
No word if the Bruins will counter by selling bottles of 17-seconds worth of tears ...

All the amazing moments that took place on that ice literally go down the drain. This year, we decided to do something different. We were on-hand for the ice removal to document the occasion and save a few precious pieces of that magical home ice.
And we want to share it with you. We're producing an extremely limited number of souvenir packages with the actual melted ice from the United Center floor and we're selling them to raise money for Chicago Blackhawks Charities.

If this gimmick sounds familiar, it’s because the selling of “melted ice” is becoming as commonplace as a charitable hockey venture as the teddy bear toss in juniors.
The Pittsburgh Penguins sold Igloo ice for $39.99 after moving to Consol Energy Center. The Philadelphia Flyers had ice from the Spectrum’s last game in April 2009 sealed up in a commemorative drink coaster for $16.95.
The Blackhawks haven’t announced how much their ice will cost, but are expected to release further details on their Twitter feed.
How exciting for Chicago fans to finally own a piece of history – the very ice where the Blackhawks hoisted … er, uh, didn’t touch the Clarence Campbell Bowl in 2013!
We’d wear ours around our neck until that moment when we forget to take it off going through airport security and are forced to drink where Bryan Bickell blew snot rockets in Game 5.
