Calvin Pickard makes incredible glove save to steal goal (Video)

Calvin Pickard is a goaltending prospect for the Colorado Avalanche, starting for the Lake Erie Monsters in the AHL. If he was looking to further impress Patrick Roy, making this kind of save against the Milwaukee Admirals would do it.

Pickard was tracking Viktor Arvidsson with the puck, as the Admirals forward passed over to a wide open Kevin Fiala, who was staring at a wide open net. Pickard lunged to this left with his glove and Fiala released the puck.

And he made a save of the year candidate.

Sure, a couple of inches higher or lower, and that’s a goal. But that’s where Fiala put it, and that’s where Pickard snagged it.

Pickard played 16 games for the Avs this season, going 6-7-3 with a .932 save percentage.

Weep not for Kevin Fiala, as he eventually scored the overtime game-winning goal in the 3-2 Milwaukee win.
