Bakersfield Condors’ Charlie Sheen Night gloriously absurd

Saturday night was Charlie Sheen Night at the rink for the ECHL Bakersfield Condors, an affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. And, true to their muse for the evening, the Condors were #WINNING, duh.

As we mentioned when the promotion was announced, this was one of the more inspired efforts by a minor league hockey team capitalizing on celebrity infamy. Charlie's bat-poop crazy antics provided great fodder for such promotions as "free admission for anyone who shows up with a clean drug test" or discounted tickets to anyone dressed as Sheen or a Sheen movie character. (Alas, no word if anyone came dressed as Lt. Dale Hawkins from "Navy SEALS.")

The result? The Condors were treated like rock stars from Mars by local television affiliates, including KBAK in Bakersfield, which filed this report that vacillates from humorous to sorta creepy:

Meanwhile, KTLA also showed up to cover Sheen night. Which was such a big deal for the Condors that it warranted this news item.

The "official doctor crayon" drug test should have gotten a free season ticket. Also: If you give your child a vodka scepter, you're the F-18 of moms.
