Arturs Irbe (sort of) to the rescue for the Sabres against the Sharks

Arturs Irbe meets the Buffalo media @buffalosabres

There's a goaltending controversy in Buffalo. Or at very least a funny goaltending story, starring one of our favorite folk hero goalies of recent years -- Arturs Irbe.

After Buffalo's Michal Neuvirth was injured in the first period of Buffalo's 4-1 win over San Jose, Irbe, Buffalo's goaltending coach, stepped into the hallway, with a weird looking helmet and mask next to him and was prepared to do whatever it took to help his team in case of another injury.

Sadly, he never got in.

In case you were wondering, Irbe is 47 years old. His last game was April 4, 2004. And you know what, it gives the Sabres something other than Connor McDavid to talk about ... at least for one night.
