Peterson was scheduled to meet met with Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia to determine if surgery was needed, according to Tom Pelissero of USA Today. Pelissero said the operation would be minimally invasive, and Peterson's rehabilitation period would only be two months.
Last season, Peterson finished the season with 1,266 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He earned a sixth Pro Bowl selection, but will not play in Sunday’s game due to the injury.
