Oh, golf and football, they go hand-in-hand like salads and Super Bowl parties. But Padraig Harrington is sponsored by the company that makes the official NFL footballs for the Super Bowl, and on Saturday at the Waste Management Open he decided to shower the fans with some pigskin.
Harrington, who is playing in his first ever Phoenix Open, shot a brilliant 8-under 63 on Saturday, but it was his field goal attempts to the fans on the 16th hole that got the biggest applause of the afternoon.
Pretty impressive for a guy that, as the announcers tell you, had never kicked or thrown an American football before, and he did this in front of a crowd of 179,022, the biggest ever to take on TPC Scottsdale.
