Matt Prater must have been in a hurry to get Sunday's AFC wild-card game underway. The Denver Broncos kicker boomed his opening kickoff off the center of the crossbar in the end zone, causing the ball to ricochet backward for 30 yards. When it came to rest, the ball was set perfectly on the left hashmark at the 20-yard line, right where it was to be spotted for the Pittsburgh Steelers' first play from scrimmage.
The big-footed kicker could hit 1,000 more kickoffs and never get it to do this again.
Prater hit the goal post again later in the game, but the ball errantly bounced toward the sideline rather than directly into the hands of the official spotting it.
