Top 5 must-see plays from Week 6

Shutdown Corner

1. Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton was in trouble as the pocket collapsed, so he did a smart thing: He got it into the hands of Giovani Bernard. The rookie running back took the flip from Dalton, turned and let his instincts take over with a bevy of moves that ended in a flamboyant touchdown.

2. Peyton Manning started the season throwing 20 touchdowns before throwing a single interception, and the Denver Broncos started the season 5-0, having beaten the previous two Super Bowl champs and America’s team among them. They’d eventually get to 6-0, beating the massive underdog Jacksonville Jaguars, but it wasn’t easy as this pick-6 shows. Manning was victim to a nice pick and runback by Paul Posluszny, whose Jags made it a closer game than anticipated.

3. Who are the Houston Texans right now? Better yet, where did this performance come from the St. Louis Rams? Taking it to the Texans in their building, the Rams turned a 17-6 lead into a 31-6 edge with a Brian Quick TD catch and this insane forced fumble and recovery for a score by on the ensuing kickoff by Darren Bates.

4. The New Orleans Saints stuck a dagger in the sides of the New England Patriots with this leaping touchdown catch by rookie Kenny Stills on 3rd and 20 from Drew Brees, to give the Saints a 1-point lead in the fourth quarter. If you watch closely, the ball appears to go right through the hands of Patriots defensive back Alfonzo Dennard. Of course, the Patriots would have the last laugh, but this was a great catch by Stills.

5. It’s stunning how much kicker injuries hurt mid-game. So what happened when Seattle Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka went down against the Tennessee Titans? Punter Jon Ryan, the holder, became the kicker; safety Chris Maragos was asked to hold on field goals and extra points. Check out the madness that ensues when Maragos can’t handle the snap on an end-of-half FG attempt. Hint: It didn’t go so well for the Seahawks.
