As the Houston Texans were leaving the field at Reliant Stadium at halftime on Sunday night, basking in the glow of perhaps their best half of football this season, Texans head coach Gary Kubiak suddenly collapsed on the sideline.

Per NBC, the stadium grew hushed. While NBC cameras filmed the scene from afar, Kubiak, age 52, did attempt to sit up. He was escorted off the field on a stretcher, loaded into a nearby ambulance and taken to a hospital for what interim Houston coach Wade Phillips said were "precautionary" tests. NBC indicated that he has no history of heart disease or other adverse health conditions.

According to NBC's Michele Tafoya, Kubiak was talking as he was stretchered off the field, but appeared to be in great pain and did not open his eyes during the entire time medical personnel were attending to him.

The Houston Texans released the following statement on Kubiak's conditions:

Houston Texans Head Coach Gary Kubiak has been taken to a local hospital. He is conscious and his family is with him.

Further information on Kubiak’s condition will be provided when it becomes available.

Kubiak's collapse follows the heart incident of Broncos head coach John Fox this past weekend. Fox felt light-headed while playing golf, and will have heart surgery to repair a defective aortic valve.
