Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan held his final press conference of the 2012 season, but was unable to provide a definitive update on the status rookie Pro Bowl quarterback Robert Griffin's right knee, which was re-injured during Sunday's 24-14 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

According to the Washington Post, Griffin has "partial tears" of the ACL and LCL in his right knee.

Griffin, who had suffered a strained LCL in his right knee during a game against the Baltimore Ravens on Dec. 9, was limping noticeably after aggravating the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. Griffin exited the game, and possibly did further damage to his knee, in the fourth quarter when his right knee buckled and bent awkwardly in the mostly dirt surface at FedEx Field while attempting to scoop up a low snap from center Will Montgomery.

Griffin underwent an MRI on Sunday night, but Shanahan said the results were "open to interpretation" due to previous injuries to the ACL and MCL in Griffin's right knee. Griffin tore his ACL in 2009 while he was still at Baylor University.

According to Shanahan, Griffin will undergo further testing with orthopedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews, who serves as the team's orthopedist and is on the team's sidelines on game day. Shanahan was not sure if Dr. Andrews was present for Griffin's MRI on Sunday night.

Dr. Andrews has offices in Birmingham, Alabama and Pensacola, Florida and Shanahan suggested towards the end of his press conference that Griffin's evaluation would take place on Tuesday in Pensacola. That was confirmed by Mark Maske of the Washington Post, who adds that Griffin will be accompanied by Redskins owner Daniel Snyder.
