They ended up in handcuffs.
According to The Baltimore Sun, Rice and Janay Palmer, his future bride, were involved in a dispute at the Revel Casino around 2:50 a.m. on Saturday. They were allegedly involved in a physical altercation at the casino, and the couple was arrested.
In addition, Rice and Palmer reportedly refused medical attention and did not report any injuries. Rice, 27, and Palmer, 26, were charged with simple assault-domestic violence and were released on a summons to appear in court.
Here is a portion of the Baltimore Sun’s report:
“Rice's attorney, Andrew Alperstein, described the allegations as a “very minor physical altercation” with Palmer.
“According to Chad Steele, the Ravens' director of public relations: ‘We are aware of the Friday night situation with Ray Rice and his fiancee. We have spoken with Ray, and know that they returned home together after being detained.’
“The Revel Casino security department declined to comment when reached earlier Sunday. Michael Diamondstein, a Philadelphia-based attorney, has been hired to represent Rice.”
Rice is arguably the Ravens’ most popular player, and not known for getting into trouble.
He has rushed for 6,180 yards and 37 touchdowns during his six-year career. Rice is coming off his most unproductive season after rushing for 660 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games. It marked the first time in four seasons he failed to have at least 1,000 rushing yards.
