Plaxico Burress, who turns 36 on Aug. 12, might be finished for this season and perhaps more than that.
Burress has a torn rotator cuff, ESPN reported. That could be a season-ending injury for the veteran Steelers receiver.
And it's fair to wonder if it might end the career of a player who is best known for either catching a game-winning touchdown in the final minute of Super Bowl XLII or for serving nearly two years in prison on a gun charge after shooting himself at a New York nightclub.
Talked to Burress in the spring. He thought this season would be his last, no matter what. We'll see if he tries to not go out this way.

Burress hurt himself in practice Thursday. He went up for a pass and came down on his shoulder, Jim Wexell of the Uniontown Herald-Standard reported. He was carted off the field.
Burress had just 42 receiving yards in four games last season, as his controversial and sometimes spectacular career winds down.
Although it's a little too early to say if his season and 11-year career are done, it's a tough blow for a player who was reportedly considering retiring after one final season.
