The Philadelphia Eagles continued their defensive makeover on Thursday, agreeing to terms on multi-year deals with linebacker Connor Barwin, cornerback Cary Williams and safety Kenny Phillips.

According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Barwin's deal is for six years and has a base value of $36 million with a maximum value of $40 million.

Barwin was originally selected by the Houston Texans in the second round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Barwin had 4.5 sacks in a reserve role as a rookie before missing most of the 2010 season with an ankle injury. Barwin returned with a vengeance, posting 11.5 sacks in 2011, his first season as a full-time starter. Barwin added three sacks last season to give him 19 on his career.

In the Eagles' 3-4 system, the 6-foot-4, 268-pound Barwin figures to play outside linebacker opposite Trent Cole, a fellow University of Cincinnati alum.

Williams entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft choice out of Division II Washburn University by the Tennessee Titans. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback has spent the last four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and has been a full-time starter over the last two seasons. Williams notched the first four interceptions of his NFL career in 2012.

According to Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun, Willliams' deal is worth $17 million over three seasons.

The Eagles announced the signing of Phillips when they released the news about Williams' signing. Phillips was a 2008 first-round pick out of Miami by the New York Giants who has 263 tackles, eight interceptions and 26 passes defensed in 56 games over the last five seasons. Phillips missed most of 2009 and more than half of the 2012 season with knee injuries.

Barwin, Williams and Phillips join nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga and safety Patrick Chung as free additions the Eagles have made this week.
