Looking back, grabbing his crotch on national television probably wasn't worth $10,000 to Logan Ryan.
Ryan, the New England Patriots' rookie cornerback, decided at the end of an interception return for a touchdown last Sunday that the best way to celebrate it was dive into the end zone, and grab himself while he did. The NFL doesn't like celebrations like that, and fined Ryan $10,000 for the show.
Ryan obviously felt bad about the celebration, and not just because it cost him a lot of money. He apologized for the gesture.
Logan Ryan: "I own up to it 100 percent. It's not acceptable for me and this team. ... It won't happen again. That's not who I am."

Logan Ryan apologizes for the celebration that earned the fine, said worst part was seeing his mother's reaction after the game. — Jeff Howe (@jeffphowe) October 24, 2013
Sunday's touchdown against the Jets was the first of Ryan's career, and it's unfortunate for him that the regrettable celebration and the fine will overshadow a big moment. He has plenty of time to get a second NFL touchdown, and his celebration will surely be more tasteful if he does score again.
