Joe Biden must not be confident in Alex Smith's ability to the lead the San Francisco 49ers to the Super Bowl either. The vice president was at a Bay Area fundraiser on Wednesday when he made a prediction about this weekend's NFC championship game.

"The Giants [are] on their way to the Super Bowl," Biden declared, drawing a smattering of boos from supporters in attendance.

According to Politico, the veep quickly realized his mistake and explained that he wasn't talking about the New York Football Giants, but had confused the 49ers with the city's baseball team, the San Francisco Giants. I'm not sure if that makes it any better, but I guess you gotta stop the boos somehow.
