The Nick Foles era begins in Philly? Vick knocked out of the game with concussion

All the hits Philadelphia quarterback Michael Vick has taken behind a terrible offensive line finally caught up to him as he was knocked out of the game against Dallas with a concussion. Fox sideline reporter Pam Oliver said Vick's helmet came up on a hit he took from linebacker Ernie Sims and his helmet hit him in the eye, and that caused Vick to lose some vision. He was diagnosed with a concussion after he left to the locker room. Rookie Nick Foles came on in relief and finished the game.

This is a move that has been bandied about for most of the Eagles' disappointing season. Vick has struggled with turnovers, particularly fumbles, and Andy Reid has had to answer questions for the past few weeks on whether Vick remains the starter. Every week the answer was the same, and Vick stayed in the lineup. Foles, who played pretty well in the preseason, had yet to attempt an NFL pass before Sunday.

Vick took some shots early in the game against the Cowboys -- as he has most of the season -- and walked off to the locker room in the second quarter. Foles misfired on his first pass, but his second pass found tight end Clay Harbor for a 7-yard completion, the first of Foles' career. Foles completed 22 of 32 passes for 219 yards, had a touchdown and an interception returned for a touchdown in the 38-23 loss.

Reid said after the game that Vick is still the starting quarterback if he's healthy, according to @EaglesInsider on Twitter. But depending on how long Vick is out, the Eagles may have no choice but to give Foles a chance and get a decent look at their future.
