The media wanted to know what some Washington Redskins fans have asked in their living rooms: Is starting Robert Griffin III the best thing right now?
Of course, Mike Shanahan didn't have to enjoy giving the answer.

When asked about possibly replacing Griffin with backup Kirk Cousins, Shanahan shot the notion down.
Shanahan gets testy with reporter, says Cousins isn't an option: "We have a lot of confidence in Robert."

It had to be asked at least, right? Watching Griffin struggle in the first two games of the season is not a shock, considering his knee injury and the short — stop invoking Adrian Peterson, please — timetable for recovery.
Maybe "Operation Patience" was an unrealistic goal; athletes, even elite ones, have different healing schedules and unique sets of circumstances with every injury. Or in Grffin's case, a history of knee injuries with a torn ACL suffered in college, too.
Plus, Cousins has a reputable résumé. He came on in relief of Griffin last year and mostly acquitted himself well. The debate won't go away until RG3 proves he's back, and not just for one good game.
