Well, that didn't take long. Only moments into Sunday night's game against the 49ers, Houston's Matt Schaub threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown.
Did that seem familiar? Of course it did, because this marks the fourth straight game Schaub has thrown a pick-six. And that, friends, is a new NFL record. Granted, Schaub did have some pretty lofty company when he had thrown only three in a row — couple fellas named Peyton Manning and John Elway — but now he's got the record all to himself.
This wasn't a backbreaker like last week's runback by Seattle's Richard Sherman, a catastrophic throw that resulted in the Texans losing a game they should have won. That one led to Houston fans burning Schaub's jersey after the game.
But it didn't get any better for Schaub as time wore on. He would end up throwing three interceptions on the night before getting benched for T.J. Yates. San Francisco looked solid, but really, all the 49ers had to do was avoid stepping on their own tongues to roll over the demoralized Texans.
Houston head coach Gary Kubiak said immediately after the game that Schaub would be his starting quarterback next week, but how long will that last?
