Seattle is not holding back celebrating its first major pro sports championship since 1979. With the Seahawks winning Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday, the party has carried over into Wednesday’s massive parade.

It has drawn a crowd estimated by the Seattle Times at 700,000 or more — which is greater than the population of Seattle — to watch players, coaches and executives drive slowly through the two-mile course and soak up the sights and sounds.

The Washington National Guard accompanied the players in Hummers, military vehicles and amphibious “Duck” vehicles. The Seahawks had some nice surprises along the way before reaching the endpoint of CenturyLink Field, including setting off a massive “moment of loudness” at, naturally, 12:12 p.m. local time.

Per the Times: “It [was] loud, all right.”

Cornerback Richard Sherman was holding the Lombardi Trophy, and running back Marshawn Lynch — decked in a "Beast Mode" shirt, naturally — stood on the hood of a “Duck” throwing Skittles into the crowd and dancing along with the SeaGals cheerleaders.

And after Russell Wilson capped the festivities by hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, Lynch stole the spotlight again, per the AP's Tim Booth.

Much of the massive crowd braved freezing temperatures, with some waiting outside all night for their beloved players. The Times account reports fans have been “packed in as tightly as 75 deep” close to the parade.

Don’t say these folks don’t know how to do it right. Perhaps that's the sights and sounds of 35 years of pent-up excitement for another championship.
