A week from Thursday, the 2011 NFL season will officially begin, and it will be ushered in with a little "Bawitdaba da bang dabang diggy diggy diggy said the boogie said up, jump the boogie."
I'm sorry. I don't even know if Kid Rock will be playing that song. I just get so few opportunities to type utter gibberish (yeah, go ahead, I asked for it).
Joining noted Lions fan Kid Rock on the Kickoff 2011 stage will be Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5. The performances will start at 7:30 p.m. ET -- an hour before the kickoff of Green Bay-New Orleans -- and you can see them live on NBC or the NFL Network. If you'd like to attend, you can do so for free by clicking here. They'd love to have you.
Reactions to the lineup have been varied. Here's a sampling from Twitter.
@fauxjohnmadden: Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5 will play the 'NFL Kickoff 2011' concert next Thursday. Is it too late to bring back the lockout?
@CaitlinMorrall: Confirmation of musical acts for the NFL kickoff at Lambeau on September 8 - Maroon 5, Kid Rock and Lady Antebellum! What a lineup!
@sportspickle: The NFL opening night music is Kid Rock, Lady Antebellum and Maroon 5. I would like to suspend Roger Goodell for tarnishing my ears.
And if you can't make it to the Kickoff show, there was this, too.
@robheubel: There's a guy down at the gas station that looks a lot like Kid Rock. He's probably still there if you want to check it out.
And if you can't find that guy, there's probably one at your local gas station, too.
