The overreaction about Johnny Manziel’s NFL potential can officially begin.
Earlier this week, Manziel proclaimed everyone at the NFL scouting combine would learn he is 6 feet tall, and not a shade under it. Apparently, Manziel forgot to bring a phonebook to the combine on Friday.
According to NFL Network’s Gil Brandt, Manziel is actually 5-foot-11 ¾ and 207 pounds, Manziel's official measurements at the combine. Close enough, right?
Louisville quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was measured at 6-2 1/8 and 214, while University of Central Florida's Blake Bortles topped all three at 6-5, 232.
Here's how confident Manziel was confident about his size in an interview with the Houston Chronicle.
"I’m going to measure 6 feet — I’m 72 inches on the dot," Manziel told the newspaper. "If they want to try to jump on my shoulders and squish me down, it’s not going to be any less than that."
Manziel’s height may turn into a hot topic, but the accurate measurement will probably not affect any team interested in him.
During Manziel’s tenure at Texas A&M, he was a proven playmaker. Manziel has a strong arm and scrambling ability. He is projected to be a first-round pick in May, and any team that wants a quarterback will not pass on him for being a little under 6 feet.
Especially after seeing Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson excel at 5-11.
