Baltimore Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said Wednesday that running back Ray Rice and his fiancee are planning to attend a couples seminar following a physical altercation between the two at an Atlantic City casino that happened last month.
Harbaugh, speaking at a press conference to announce the signing of tight end Dennis Pitta, said that he has spoken with Rice and that his version of what happened that night matches up with what information the team has been able to gather on the situation.
"I've talked to Ray a lot, and really nothing to add other than what's been said already: The facts will determine the consequences, and we'll see where it goes," Harbaugh said today at a press conference for tight end Dennis Pitta to discuss his five-year, $32 million contract. "I haven't seen anything different, just like you haven't seen anything different. Ray has told me his side of it, and everything we've seen so far is very consistent with what he said.
A disturbing video has made the internet rounds of Rice dragging his unconscious fiancée out of an elevator in the hotel. Rice and Janay Palmer both were arrested and charged with simple assault-domestic violence immediately afterward.
Interestingly, Harbaugh said he believes Rice and Palmer, who is the mother of Rice's child, remain engaged to be married.
