Kellen Winslow caught one pass for 12 yards in the four snaps he played for the New England Patriots last season. Now with the New York Jets, Winslow is not letting his limited action in 2012 affect his annual goal of catching 100 passes.

From Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News:

"I averaged around 72 (catches per season)," Winslow said from the "Jets West" passing camp in Southern California on Friday. "My job is to just make plays. When it comes my way, just make the play. I can exceed that. My goal is always to catch 100 balls. Haven’t done it yet, but that’s my goal. I want to come close."

Winslow's math is spot on. After missing all but two games during his first two seasons in the NFL, and excluding his lost season in 2012, Winslow caught 432 passes from 2006 through 2011, which comes out to exactly 72 receptions per season. Winslow came closest to the century mark when he caught 89 passes in 2006.

Winslow caught 82 passes in 2007 and over the next four seasons (2008-11) he averaged 65 catches per season.

The Jets are very thin at the tight end position as restricted free agent Jeff Cumberland and his 32 career receptions are projected to replace Dustin Keller as the starter. The Jets added Winslow following a tryout at the end of their minicamp and he is slotted behind Cumberland and ahead of Konrad Reuland and Hayden Smith. The biggest test for Winslow will be his ability to participate in training camp and the preseason. Winslow went to training camp last year with the Seattle Seahawks, but was limited in August and was ultimately released.

Winslow expects the Jets to have a plan to manage his reps.

"I’m sure they have a plan for me," said Winslow. "I’ll be in shape. They’ll take care of me."
