On this day when so many people are gloating over the fact that certain NFL coaches are losing their heads, it's good to see some players celebrating one who managed to hang onto his.
Rex Ryan has long been a players' coach, and nowhere was that more evident than in Sunday afternoon's celebration as Jets owner Woody Austin announced Ryan would be back next year. The Jets finished 8-8, a game out of a wild card playoff spot. It was an impressive finishing performance for a team predicted to go as bad as 0-16 this year with a rookie quarterback and salary-cap anchors weighing it down.

If nothing else, Ryan managed to distance himself from SanchezTebowGate this year; mere mediocrity is far more preferable than being a laughingstock, as the Washington Redskins could tell you with regret. Ryan has a tough job to bring the Jets back to the postseason, but it appears he'll have a little more room to get that job done.
