Minnesota defensive end Jared Allen has been one of the best in the game for a long time, and he might have had his best play near the end of a dull first half Monday night.
Allen bull-rushed Giants left tackle Will Beatty back into quarterback Eli Manning. That's not too unusual; Allen has walked many offensive tackles back into the quarterback. It's what he did next that drew some double takes.

Allen wrapped his arms around Beatty, who is 319 pounds, and grabbed Manning. And Manning couldn't break free from Allen's grip. To hold onto Manning – who isn't a small guy at 6-4, 218 pounds – while Beatty is fighting you off is an insane feat of strength. Eventually Manning went down as another pass rusher closed in on him, giving Allen the sack. It was an amazing play all around.
Even though Allen has had a great career, we haven't seen anything quite like that from him before.
