Gisele sends ‘disgustingly sappy’ email asking friends to pray for Tom Brady

The New York Post, as ever doing yeoman's service, obtained a copy of a "disgustingly sappy" email sent by Gisele Bundchen to friends and family asking them to send positive thoughts to her husband, Tom Brady, before Sunday's Super Bowl matchup against the New York Giants.

[Related: Photos of Tom and Gisele]

Bundchen's message reads like it was written by a guy selling art in the parking lot at a Phish show.

"My sweet friends and family. This sunday will be a really important day in my husband's life. He and his team worked so hard to get to this point and now they need us more than ever to send them positive energy so they can fulfill their dream of winning this super bowl. [...] I feel Tommy really needs our prayer, our support and love at this time. [...]

"So I kindly ask all of you to join me on this positive chain and pray for him, so he can feel confident, healthy and strong. Envision him happy and fulfilled experiencing with his team a victory this sunday."

As if being himself and waking up next to a Brazilian supermodel weren't enough, Tom Brady now needs positive thoughts to be confident, healthy and strong? That's like Warren Buffett's wife asking friends to pray for his wealth. Let the rest of us have some, Gisele!

By the way, can you imagine if Tim Tebow had a wife and was in the Super Bowl? And that she sent out an email chain asking for prayers, affirmations and positive energy?

Chris Chase needs a new job. Number one, this is kind of like digging threw someone's trash can and reading their personal mail. Two, it really isn't that bad. What would you expect from a loving wife who cares about her husband?

Chris Chase, you should be ashamed of yourself for passing on private family matters to the whole cyberspace world! You should be so lucky to have someone who cared so much about you! I'm not a Patriots fan, but I'm a human being. Mind your own business!

@SalGal, this was a LEAD story on Good Morning American and Front Page news in the paper. Chris Chase did not have anything to do with the story, except to post it here.

@SalGal - Are you on crack?

What's wrong with her doing that? I don't get it and do not have an issue with it at all...Has nothing to do with the game or anything...Just a lovely lady providing support for her man...Not a big deal...Kinda sweet...

Obviously Chris is jealous... :) must not have the support of a loving woman...
      • NYGramma 3 months ago
If it has nothing to do with the game, what's the Superbowl again? I don't see anything wrong with the e-mail either, but it's ALL about the game.

        I agree, it's sweet.

Chris Chase, a 'journalist' whose DNA clearly comes from the shallow end of the gene pool--matching perfectly the depth of his writing. Ugh.

Chris Chase, you need serious help. You only wish someone would give you this much support.

Chris Chase needs a "reality check" - preferably one written on a pink slip of paper, or since even Chief Operation Officers of major corporations are now sometimes fired by emails and telephone calls, just use flaming pink ink in the email or find a pink phone somewhere at Yahoo corporate headquarters. Regardless of how it's done, somebody at Yahoo needs to "grow a pair" and "launch" Chris Chase!

She is not unlike millions of wives who pray for their husbands' success daily. What is the beef? Because she prayed? That is the real problem here....if she ran in the street naked you guys at Yahoo would completely support it.

I think that there are a lot more important things to pray for in the world than a Super Bowl ring.

Aaaaaaaah Chris Chase do I detect a hint of jealousy ?? It just kills you that a woman like that would never pray for you!!! I dislike the patriots, but I love to see such a powerful Alist couple who actually love and respect each other.

Chris Chase you are a porr excuse for a journalist

Quit bashing Christians. We should all be excited and lucky to have someone to love us and make a public declaration as Giselle did for Tom.

Nothing sappy, she is just being a supportive wife. The press coverage is what smells here.
    • Lonni  •  Fairfield, California  •  3 months ago
How rude is this article? Why is she wrong to ask for prayers for her husband? What's disgusting about it? Why are you hacking into her e-mails anyways? Why is it not disgusting that people can't even send an e-mail in private anymore? It does say that she sent it to friends and family so why is it a problem that she's asking for encouragement for her husband? How about Chris Chase, you go face a championship ANYTHING and see if you need encouragement? Let's see how disgusting you think it is for someone to have your back and pray for you. SMH.
    • DavidC  •  3 months ago
I'm embarrassed to live in a society where media is employed to report such personal wishes not only as news, but as sappy.

Get a life Chase. And a real job.
