News flash: William "The Refrigerator" Perry is still alive. Don't believe what you read on Twitter.

Oh, Twitter. How we love you, how we hate you. Yes, you bring us lovely breaking news hours, even days before our family forwards us links. (For those of you thinking Twitter is nothing but geeks talking about what they had for lunch: hey there. It's 2013. Time to step into the future.) But the democratic nature of Twitter, where everyone tweets at the same volume, is that it doesn't take much time for particularly interesting material, like the apparent death of a beloved '80s icon, to spread.

The problem apparently stemmed from the fact that TigerNet, a Clemson fan site, retweeted someone who reported that Perry had died. However, it was a case of mistaken identity. The individual named William Perry who passed away simply had the same name as The Fridge, and was, according to his family, a Clemson fan. Our condolences to that William Perry's family.

The news, then, from the tiger's mouth itself:

So let's wrap this on a far happier note:

Keep on rumblin', Fridge.
