To say it has been a long time since the Detroit Lions won a game in Washington would be an understatement.

Here is a historic view of what was going on when the Lions last roared in Washington:

The year was 1935, and it was the last time Detroit posted a win in Washington. After 21 straight loses, 2013 will be known as the year when Detroit finally ended that losing streak.

Detroit went on the road and defeated Washington, 27-20, to end its woes in the nation’s capital on Sunday. Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford threw for 385 yards and two touchdowns and one interception, while Detroit’s defense held Washington quarterback Robert Griffin III to 326 yards passing, no touchdowns and one interception, plus only six carries for 37 yards.

That is the good news for Lions fans.

The bad news is Detroit has lost 22 consecutive games against Green Bay on the road.

For now, Detroit should enjoy its victory.

And Detroit should be optimistic that another historic losing streak could end on October 6 when the Lions travel to Lambeau Field.
