The NFL is trying to make the Pro Bowl a little more interesting, and Deion Sanders has a great idea.

He wants to play, and wants Jerry Rice to join him.

Sanders, who is one of the captains who will help pick the Pro Bowl teams (the NFL's biggest attempt to draw fans back into its all-star game), tweeted out that he will play in the game on Jan. 26.

This is a real, "Wait, is he serious about this?" moment. Sanders is 46 years old and hasn't played football since 2005. Jerry Rice is 51 years old (wow, I suddenly feel really old) and he retired at the end of a preseason stint with Denver in 2005.

There might be rules against this, but that assumes that the Pro Bowl has rules. Last year J.J. Watt played some offense and center Jeff Saturday, who was on the NFC team, took a snap on the AFC side so he could pair up with longtime teammate Peyton Manning, so it's not like much is enforced.

So if the greatest receiver and the greatest cover cornerback in NFL history want to line up against each other one more time like it's 1995, hey, why not. Just make sure there's plenty of ice and aspirin on hand for after they're done.
