Happy Fourth of July NFL suspension weekend!

First, the league announce that Kansas City Chiefs reserve offensive lineman Rokevious Watkins has been suspended four games, followed quickly by the same suspension for Miami Dolphins pass rusher Dion Jordan.

Now comes word that Indianapolis Colts wideout LaVon Brazill faces a suspension of one year or longer without pay for violating the NFL's policy and program for substances of abuse, according to's Ian Rapoport.

Something tells us that the league didn't get all these samples back from the lab at, like, 3 p.m. today. By the time you light that first firework, expect to hear news about Jim Irsay's punishment from the league.

Brazill isn't a major loss for the Colts, as the team's likely No. 4 receiver, but he is a sad tale. He was suspended four games to start last season after failing multiple marijuana tests and yet has teased the team and Colts fans with his explosive ability.

Brazill has averaged 15.1 yards on his 23 catches the past two seasons and opened some eyes down the stretch after Reggie Wayne got hurt. He had two-TD games against the Bengals in Week 14 and then in the divisional-round playoff loss to the Patriots. In two playoff games, Brazill caught six passes for 127 yards and appeared to have some positive momentum heading into the 2014 season.

So long for that.
