After all the Indianapolis Colts have been through this season, you'd think they'd get a free pass from fate as they prepare to take on the Baltimore Ravens this afternoon. Sadly, that is not the case.

Kimberly Jones of the NFL Network reported from Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium this morning that according to the Colts' P.R. staff, offensive coordinator and former interim head coach Bruce Arians has been taken to the hospital with an illness that has not yet been publicly specified. Arians missed practice time this week with the flu, though it has not been confirmed his hospitalization is connected to that diagnosis.

The Colts told the media that Arians is "doing well," which would intimate that whatever the issue is, it's not too serious, and we can only hope that's the case.

Quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen, who called the plays for the Colts in 2011, will fill that role in Arians' place. Arians coached the team to a 9-3 record as head coach Chuck Pagano was recovering from leukemia.

We will update this story as we know more.
