Charles Barkley made good on his promise to show up to Philadelphia wearing a Donovan McNabb(notes) Redskins jersey. The former 76ers star strolled through the parking lots at Lincoln Financial Field before the Eagles-Redskins game rocking a burgundy and gold No. 5 jersey given to him by 'Skins owner Dan Snyder.
"I just want to give [McNabb] the respect he deserves," Barkley said.
The NBA Hall of Famer said last week that he didn't like the way Eagles fans treated McNabb during his 11 seasons in Philly. Though he's not a Redskins fan, Barkley decided to become one on Sunday, solely for the purposes of rooting for McNabb.
I love Barkley. What other guy could show up at an Eagles tailgate wearing a Redskins jersey and have everyone there love him because of it? Sir Charles could have sported a shirt reading "I hate Rocky, cheesesteaks and Benjamin Franklin" and he'd still be the most popular guy around.
Thanks, The Big Lead
