Broncos receiver Wes Welker signs head of young cancer patient, brightens her day

Shutdown Corner

An autograph from an NFL player usually does not have a lifetime impact.

Delaney Clements will definitely disagree.

Clements is 11 years old and battling cancer, according to TheDenverChannel.com. She is currently fighting stage IV neuroblastoma, a cancer that attacks nerve tissue. As a result of the treatments, her hair fell out.

She recently attended a celebrity cooking event at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, Colo. Denver Broncos receiver Wes Welker and actor Jeffrey Donovan of the TV show “Burn Notice” attended the event. That is when Clements asked both men to autograph her head, and they granted her request.

As a result of the supportive gesture, Clements has vowed to never wash her head again.

Let’s hope Clements is forced to break that promise in the future because she beat cancer.
