Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller is one month into his new role as the team's starting running back, but that has not translated into Spiller receiving increased playing time or involvement in the offense. The NFL's leader in "yards per carry" entering Week 14 was asked about his lack of touches (eight) in a 15-12 loss to the St. Louis Rams on Sunday.

"Of course I want to touch the ball more, but there's no need for me to sit around and mope and groan and do all that stuff. That's high school. That's childish. That's not what I'm all about," Spiller said via Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News. "Is the frustration there? Yeah, deep down inside your gut as a competitor, yeah it's there, but there's nothing I can do about it, so I'm not going to sit around and pout."

Spiller was averaging 6.6 yards per carry entering Sunday's action and though his 30 snaps were one below his 12-game average, he had just seven rushing attempts for 37 yards and one reception for 15 yards in the loss to the Rams, including three touches in the final 30 minutes.

"I really can't control how many times I touch the ball, guys," Spiller told reporters. "I keep saying it over and over, but I don't know what else y'all want me to say. The only thing I can do, when my number's called, is do the best I can. Even when it's not, just try to do the best I can."

Spiller had 29 carries for 292 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 40 snaps per game during the first two games of the season. Spiller injured his shoulder in Week 3 and while he would not miss any games, his playing time would decrease sharply, playing between 25 and 34 snaps per game over the next six weeks. In a Week 10 win over the Miami Dolphins, Spiller logged a season-high 50 plays, carrying the ball 22 times for 91 yards with three receptions for 39 yards out of the backfield.

Spiller has logged just 84 snaps in the three games since but will likely see more playing time, and touches, in the final three weeks as Fred Jackson is likely done for the rest of the season after injuring his knee on Sunday.
