Tight end Jeremy Shockey wants to forget how ugly things got at the end of his time with the New York Giants. Amani Toomer remembers, though.

Shockey, according to Gary Myers of the New York Daily News, wants to play for the Giants again. He's an unrestricted free agent, and according to some reports,  he has considered retirement. There was no stampede to his door when free agency officially began.

Amani Toomer, who was Shockey's teammate with the Giants and is now retired, posted this on Twitter after hearing of Shockey's alleged interest in returning to the Giants:

Shockey then did some tweeting of his own:

Children, children. Calm yourselves. There's nothing here worth getting upset over, because it's very unlikely that either of you will have any sort of impact on the 2012 NFL season.

Shockey will be lucky to find a job anywhere in the league. He's 31 years old, his most productive days are behind him, he's injured frequently and he doesn't have a reputation as a great teammate. He can still play, and Carolina would like to have him back, but the fact that he's on the open market right now leads me to believe that one side or the other isn't anxious to make that happen.

Shockey was so upset with the Giants organization after the 2007 season, that he didn't go to the White House with the rest of the team to celebrate its Super Bowl win. He didn't even show up at the ring ceremony. The Giants traded him to the Saints in the offseason.

Kiss and make up, boys. Whatever problems you had in the past aren't doing either of you any good right now. And please, don't pee on anyone's clothes.
