The search for Sierra LaMar, a teen from the San Francisco area who has been missing since March 16, picked up a volunteer well-known to football fans. San Francisco 49ers quarterback Alex Smith joined in the search for LaMar on Saturday.
He joined a group of nearly 700 volunteers who scoured the area near Morgan Hill. The search for LaMar has been ongoing since she did not show up for school. Though Smith did not comment on his participation in the search, an organizer confirmed his presence.
Smith led the 49ers to the NFC championship game last season. After San Francisco considered Peyton Manning and Smith visited with the Miami Dolphins, he signed a three-year deal.
Kudos to Smith and all the volunteers who spent Saturday looking for LaMar. Anyone with information on her disappearance are encouraged to call (408) 808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at (408) 808-4431. Tips can also be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
