Adrian Peterson can't hit Jennie Finch in celebrity softball game

Adrian Peterson doesn't strike you as a man who is afraid of too many opponents.

And when the Minnesota Vikings running back was out of his element a bit, batting in the Legends and Celebrity Softball Game on Sunday (it was tape delayed), he still didn't back down. He wanted a piece of women's softball pitching legend Jennie Finch.

So in a slow-pitch game, Peterson said he wanted Finch to bring the heat.

"I said, 'Don't take it easy on me. I want you to come with a fastball,'" Peterson said per

The only request Peterson made?

"He said to keep it away from his teeth and his face, so I said, 'OK, we can do that,'" Finch told 120 Sports.

And so she did, and despite being out of training these days and spending more time taking care of her kids, Finch blew three riseballs by Peterson, one of the best athletes in the world. Peterson might have fouled one of the three pitches he saw off (along with two swings and misses in his K), but he certainly didn't make great contact on the one pitch. If that doesn't tell you how incredible the best softball pitchers are, nothing will. You simply can't turn on their pitches.

That said, Peterson said he hadn't played baseball since high school, and even then he wasn't much of one compared to, you know, that other sport he plays. But we also appreciate Peterson being a sport and not being afraid to be shown up by a woman in a sporting event.
