After throwing a brutal pick-six to give Georgia Tech a 17-16 lead, Virginia Tech quarterback Michael Brewer made a heads-up play in the fourth quarter that put the Hokies in front for the time being.

On the seventh play of the drive that followed the interception, Brewer handed the ball off to freshman tailback Marshawn Williams on a first-and-10 from the Georgia Tech 31-yard line. Williams carried the ball left, then cut back right and fumbled. Several GT players attempted to fall on the fumble, but the ball bounced away and it was none other than Brewer who was Johnny on the spot.

He scooped up the fumble and ran it in from 21 yards out for the go-ahead score.

The Hokies then converted a two-point conversion to increase the lead to 24-17, but the lead would not stand.

The Yellow Jackets tied things at 24 on a 31-yard connection from Justin Thomas to DeAndre Smelter with 3:18 to go. On the ensuring Hokies possession, Brewer threw another bad interception – his third of the day – to give Georgia Tech the ball at the Hokies' 40-yard line.

Seven plays later, Harrison Butker hit a 24-yard field goal as time expired to give Georgia Tech a 27-24 win.

The victory gave the Yellow Jackets their first 4-0 start since 2011. For the Hokies, now 2-2, it's another bad loss for a team that was riding high after knocking off Ohio State on the road in Week 2.
