Virginia's Canaan Severin hauled in awesome one-handed TD catch (GIFs)

Virginia needed to win its last two games to make it to a bowl game and Canaan Severin did everything he could to make sure that happens.

Trailing Miami 7-3 late in the first half, Cavs quarterback Greyson Lambert looked Severin’s way on a third-and-10 play from the Hurricanes’ 23-yard line. Lambert fired a strike to Severin up the seam and the junior wideout made a diving one-handed touchdown catch with Miami’s safety heading right toward him.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Severin was able to haul the pass in with his right arm out-stretched and completely avoid the Miami defensive back for a touchdown.

Here’s another look.

The touchdown, Severin’s fifth of the season, gave Virginia a 10-7 lead.

The Cavs held on for a 30-13 win to improve to 5-6. They have a road game against Virginia Tech next Friday to decide whether or not they will advance to the postseason.
