Video: Northwestern to wear white helmets against Cal in season opener

Northwestern will wear white helmets for the first time since 1980 when it visits Cal on August 31.

The all-white uniform look incorporates the same Under Armour road uniforms they wore last season with a white lid with the purple, stylized "N" logo on it.

According to Hail to Purple, a Northwestern uniform site, the last white helmet said "Cats" in script on the side. In 1981, Northwestern switched to the purple helmets with the white N that have become the school's standard helmet. The first time Northwestern wore white helmets? 1918.

Just like Wisconsin's red alternate helmets, these get an endorsement as well. Way to go, Big 10.
