Utah's Kaelin Clay strikes Heisman pose at Big House after scoring on Michigan (GIF)

Kaelin Clay made sure Utah got off to a good start in a big road game against Michigan.

After the two teams traded a pair of field goals in the first quarter, the Utes forced a Michigan three-and-out and were set to receive a punt early in the second quarter.

With Clay waiting deep, Michigan’s Will Hagerup booted a 46-yard punt without much hang time.

Clay fielded the punt cleanly at the 35-yard line, made the first man miss and was off to the races for a 66-yard touchdown return. Upon reaching the end zone, Clay wanted to pay homage to Michigan great Desmond Howard, so he brought out the classic Heisman Trophy pose.

Clay is a senior who recently transferred to Utah after playing at Mount San Antonio College – a junior college in California. Although I don’t think he’ll be in the running for the award, Clay will most likely never get the chance to play in Michigan Stadium again, so I can’t blame him for pulling out the Heisman pose.

LSU coach Les Miles wasn't thrilled when freshman Leonard Fournette did the same pose on his first career score earlier this year, but we can't see Utes coach Kyle Whittingham getting too broken up about it.

Clay has caught two passes for 13 yards this season but also had a 100-yard kickoff return in the Utes’ season-opening win over Idaho State.

The Utes were up 26-10 and had just returned an interception deep into Michigan territory when the game was delayed due to lightning in the vicinity of the stadium.
