USC claims its home schedule card was not poking fun at UCLA

USC's keychain home schedules became national news Monday when the Trojans were accused of taunting rival UCLA.

See, the schedule lists all of the Trojans' home games, but it also lists the Nov. 17 contest against UCLA, which is a Bruins home game. The idea being that even though it's a UCLA home game, the Trojans will have the better fan support.

But USC spokesman Tim Tessalone tells the Orange County Register this move was not a jab at UCLA. Or, at least, not a new jab.

"We do that every year," Tessalone told the paper. "It's a local game for us. … We do get tickets for that game."

But let's be honest, it probably does shake out to be a home game for USC considering the current state of both programs.

Remember when former coach Rick Neuheisel proclaimed: "The football monopoly in Los Angeles is officially over" and UCLA fans were excited about the prospect of getting their city back? Those were good times. Since then, USC has won the last five games in the series. The Bruins are a long way from ending that monopoly, especially with USC heading into this season as a national championship contender.

Thanks to the OC Register
