The career of North Carolina senior quarterback Bryn Renner ended abruptly last week when he suffered a shoulder injury against N.C. State.

But he still managed to be on the field for this week’s 45-14 win over Virginia thanks to backup – and now starting – quarterback Marquise Williams.

Williams not only wore the jersey, he did it, Renner and the Tar Heels proud with 185 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 45 yards rushing and a rushing score in the win.
The Tar Heels needed the victory to keep their hopes of bowl eligibility alive. The Tar Heels will need to win two of its final three games against Pitt, Old Dominion and Duke to get to six wins.
