Tulsa WR Keevan Lucas out for the season after knee injury

Tulsa receiver Keevan Lucas is out for the season after suffering a knee injury during Saturday’s 38-24 loss to Houston.

Lucas suffered the injury in the third quarter while attempting to catch a pass in the end zone. Lucas got tangled up with Houston cornerback Adrian McDonald, who was flagged for pass interference.

Lucas, however, remained on the turf clutching his knee and crying while trainers attended to him. He was helped off the field and ultimately carted to the locker room. He did return in the fourth quarter and watched the remainder of the game from a folding chair in the end zone while his leg was propped up.

Lucas is second on the team with 26 catches for 409 yards and five touchdowns this season. In his career, he has 2,070 yards and 17 touchdowns.

With Lucas out, the Golden Hurricane will rely on receivers Keyarris Garrett, Josh Atkinson and slot receiver Conner Floyd to fill the void.

This isn’t Lucas’ first knee injury. During the middle of his senior year of high school in 2012, he suffered a torn meniscus in his left knee, had surgery and missed the remainder of the season. However, he was able to participate in Tulsa’s spring drills prior after enrolling in January.
